In a recent interview with ABC News, President Joe Biden's performance was met with criticism, casting a shadow over his re-election prospects.

This comes on the heels of a debate with Donald Trump that was widely regarded as a disaster. The initial feedback on the President's interview was far from positive, with David Axelrod, the mastermind behind both of Barack Obamas successful presidential campaigns and his top political strategist, expressing his skepticism about Biden's message.

According to RedState, Axelrod took to social media shortly after the interview aired, echoing a sentiment that many have been expressing: the president is alarmingly out of touch. "The president is rightfully proud of his record. But he is dangerously out-of-touch with the concerns people have about his capacities moving forward and his standing in this race," Axelrod posted on the social platform X. He added, "Years ago at this time, he was 10 points ahead of Trump. Today, he is six points behind."

Axelrod's comments have stirred up controversy, with some Democrats labeling him a MAGA shill. RedStates Bonchie, however, argued that the interview was a complete failure. Despite host George Stephanopoulos' attempts to maintain a balanced approach and question the president on his mental status, his history of partisan bias and his tendency to defend the Democrat party have recently come under fire.

Axelrod, in a subsequent appearance on CNN, stated that the interview did nothing to alter the trajectory of the race, which is currently leaning towards GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump. He began his critique by describing the Biden interview as sad and suggesting that the incumbent president seems unable to comprehend the predicament hes in. "The question is: did he change the minds of voters who were watching that? I don't really think so. You know, he, Jim, I think the thing and some of it I found sad, but he seems not to be able to compute the fact that people have these questions about him," Axelrod said.

Axelrod didnt stop there. He continued to voice his concerns, highlighting a moment when Stephanopoulos asked Biden if he'd be willing to take a cognitive test. Biden's response was that he takes a cognitive test every day. However, Axelrod pointed out that, despite this, 75 percent of the American people believe he failed.

Axelrod also expressed his belief that the First Lady and their close circle of advisors are failing the president by not being honest with him about the reality heand the countryare facing. "His portrait of where he is in this race doesn't comport with reality," Axelrod stated.

Given Axelrod's close relationship with the Obamas, it's reasonable to speculate that his comments are not made independently, but with the approval of his former boss. This raises questions about whether Michelle and Barack Obama are distancing themselves from Biden, with Axelrod acting as their spokesperson. This speculation, however, remains unconfirmed.
