Mississippi Manhunt Frenzy: Inside The Jaw-Dropping Escape Of Two Armed Murderers

Written by Published

In a dramatic turn of events, two inmates facing murder charges have made a daring escape from a detention center in Mississippi.

The fugitives, identified as Tyrekennel Collins, 24, and Dezarrious Johnson, 18, broke free from the Claiborne County Detention Center in the early hours of Friday, according to the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department.

As reported by CBS News, the escape was executed around 2:20 a.m., with the two men managing to elude the authorities. The detention center, located in Port Gibson, is approximately 60 miles southwest of Jackson. The escape was captured on camera, with footage revealing Collins and Johnson making their exit through the ceiling and subsequently breaching an exterior wall, as disclosed by Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods. Johnson, however, did not escape unscathed, sustaining an injury to his right leg during the breakout, which has resulted in a noticeable limp.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has issued a warning, deeming both escapees armed and dangerous. Collins is facing charges for the alleged murder of his cousin in Copiah County in October, a location approximately 40 miles west of Claiborne County. As of Friday, court records did not indicate an indictment for Collins.

Johnson, on the other hand, is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault in Jefferson County, situated just south of Claiborne County. He stands accused of a deadly incident in October 2022, which resulted in one fatality and injuries to two others. His trial was slated to commence on October 15.

The escape of these two inmates underscores the need for stringent security measures in detention facilities. The incident also raises questions about the effectiveness of the current system in preventing such occurrences. As the manhunt continues, the public is reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
