According to former U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump is "more dangerous" than dictators like Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
In an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe, McCaskill drew comparisons between Trump and historical autocrats, stating, "Other people have tried to draw similarities between Mussolini and Hitler and the use of the terminology like vermin, and the drive that those men had towards autocracy and dictatorship. The difference, though, I think, makes Donald Trump even more dangerous."
McCaskill argued that what sets Trump apart is his lack of a coherent philosophy or vision for the country. Unlike leaders such as Putin, who seeks to expand his country's boundaries or achieve international dominance, Trump's sole focus is on his own self-promotion. McCaskill stated, "All he cares about is selfish self-promotion. That's the only philosophy he has, which makes him even more dangerous because he has actually said out loud that it would be okay to terminate the Constitution to keep him in power."
McCaskill, who served as a Missouri senator until 2019, has been a vocal critic of Trump and the Republican Party. On social media, she has expressed her frustration with the party's lack of leadership during times of crisis, stating, "The self-centered ego of Trump has infected the entire Republican Party. Astounding they are unable to elect a leader at a time of national and international crisis. They are all focused on themselves instead of our nation. Why should anyone vote for them to lead? They can't."
