Tiger Woods, the renowned golf champion, has confirmed his participation alongside his son, Charlie, in the 2023 PNC Championship.
The prestigious tournament is set to take place at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando from December 16-17.
Woods, despite his intermittent injuries that have impacted his professional career, has always cherished his involvement in this particular event. "It is an amazing gift to be able to share my love of golf with Charlie, and we genuinely do look forward to playing in the PNC Championship all years," Woods expressed on Wednesday. He further added, "Competing together, against a field of so many golfing greats and their families, is so special."
In preparation for the PNC Championship, Woods will also participate in his Hero World Challenge, scheduled from November 30 to December 3. This tournament, curated by Woods himself, brings together 20 of the world's top golf players.
According to Outkick, Woods was unable to compete in the previous Hero World Challenge due to plantar fasciitis. However, he persevered through the pain to participate in the PNC Championship, where he was permitted to use a golf cart.
Charlie Woods, a 14-year-old freshman at Benedict School, is also a recent winner of a Florida high school golf title with his team. Tiger Woods, who has been serving as his son's caddy in junior golf tournaments, has been in good health.
"My ankle is fine," Woods informed The Associated Press in a recent health update. He added, "Where they fused my ankle, I have absolutely zero issue whatsoever. That pain is completely gone. Its the other areas that have been compensated for all the surrounding areas is where I had all my problems and I still do. So you fix one, others have to become more hypermobile to get around it, and it can lead to some issues."
The Woods duo has consistently performed well in the PNC Championship, securing a place in the top 10 in each appearance. Their best performance was as runners-up, falling just two strokes behind John Daly and his son, John Daly II.
Charlie, known for emulating his father's iconic fist pumps after successful putts and his powerful drives, is expected to once again captivate audiences at the upcoming event. The tournament continues to fortify the bond between father and son on the golf course.
