Nathan Carman is set to appear at his trial in October for the allegations that he killed his grandfather, a veteran, and his mother.
According to the claims, it was all a scheme to get an inheritance. This led to him killing his mother at sea.
Nathans grandfather, John Chakalos, was a former U.S. paratrooper and self-made multi-millionaire. After his death, Nathan received $550,000. However, he blew that over three years. Then, according to the allegations, he sank his boat. His mother died in the accident, and Nathon filed an insurance claim for another $85,000.
A month before his alleged murder, Chakalos wife died from cancer, meaning more money was for the rest of the heirs. Chakalos was a passionate man that loved philanthropy and his family more than anything. He worked hard to establish himself as a real estate developer.
The same mindset obviously wasnt inherited by Nathan. According to Fox News, Carman, on the other hand, failed out of community college while Chakalos was paying for his truck and apartment, according to court documents. The grandfather also footed the bill for riding lessons and room and board for a pony.
Prosecutors declare that Nathan shot his grandfather on a hunting trip. Then, he invited his mother on a fishing trip with him. When the boat sank, he didnt save her. Her body has never been found. However, Nathan was found floating in a lifeboat about a week later.
Although he filed an insurance claim on the boat, the insurance company refused to pay the settlement and took it to court. Currently, he is facing charges for the death of his mother, but prosecutors still claim that he also killed his grandfather.
According to Fox News, The fraud scheme outlined in Counts One through Six charges Carman with committing two murders the murder of his grandfather and the murder of his mother to obtain access to millions of dollars in a trust fund and hiding his responsibility for those murders, they wrote.
