Former VP's Fueling Fiasco: Mike Pence's Gas Station Blunder Leaves Internet In Stitches

Written by Published

Former Vice President Mike Pence faced widespread online ridicule after the release of a political advertisement that was riddled with obvious flaws.

In the ad, Pence attempts to highlight his energy policy proposals while simulating the act of refueling his truck at a gas station.

"Hey, everybody. Mike Pence here," he announces as he steps out of a red truck at a gas station. "Remember $2-a-gallon gas? I do," he continues, inserting the pump nozzle into his vehicle.

The issue arises when Pence fails to select a specific grade of gasoline, causing the gas pump to emit a series of beeps throughout the advertisement. Not only does he neglect to choose a grade, but he also fails to initiate the fueling process altogether.

Despite these comical mishaps, Pence proceeds to pitch his energy promises to potential voters.

The advertisement has garnered over 2 million views and has elicited a significant response, albeit not for the reasons Pence intended.

Setting aside the hilarity of the situation, the ad represents a missed opportunity for Pence.

Rather than relying on his words, Pence could have allowed the price of gas to speak for itself. He could have driven the truck to the pump with an empty tank, filled it up completely, and concluded the ad by displaying the total cost of refueling.

Such an approach would have made a more lasting impression on voters. Instead, the ad will be remembered for reasons that are detrimental, rather than beneficial, to Pence's struggling campaign.
