Governor DeSantis Takes BOLD Action Against Soros-Funded Prosecutor For Neglect Of Duty

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken action once again, this time by removing another prosecutor who was allegedly funded by George Soros and failing to fulfill her duties.

As reported by RedState in April, DeSantis had been preparing to suspend State Attorney Monique Worrell from her position, and on Wednesday, he officially made the move.

In a statement, DeSantis cited neglect of duty as the reason for Worrell's suspension, stating that her administration of criminal justice had been "clearly and fundamentally derelict, so as to constitute neglect of duty and incompetence." The governor emphasized that Florida is a state that upholds the rule of law, and refusing to enforce the laws puts communities at risk and victimizes innocent people.

Worrell, whose office is located in the Orlando area, received significant support from Soros-funded groups during the 2022 Democratic primary. These groups have been known to back "progressive" prosecutors across the country. While Worrell denies any influence from these groups, it is evident that she was aligning her actions with their agenda, whether knowingly or unknowingly.

This is not the first time DeSantis has removed a prosecutor backed by Soros. The first was Andrew Warren, and after a legal battle over the lawfulness of the removal, the governor's decision was upheld.

Regarding Worrell's suspension, the executive order signed by DeSantis listed several justifications under the law. These included patterns or practices of avoiding minimum mandatory sentences for gun crimes and drug trafficking offenses, allowing juvenile offenders to avoid serious charges and incarceration, avoiding valid applicable sentencing enhancements, limiting charges for child pornography offenses, and seeking withholding of adjudication in situations not permitted under Florida law.

Worrell responded to her suspension by calling DeSantis a "dictator" and claiming that she is living under "tyranny" in Florida. She expressed outrage, stating that there used to be a high standard for the removal of elected officials and that elected officials should not be removed solely for political purposes.

While Worrell insists that she has been doing her job, she inadvertently acknowledges the reason for her suspension. She has been overriding the laws enacted by the legislature in order to advance a social justice agenda, which has resulted in negative consequences within her circuit. It is not her role to "do things differently," but rather to faithfully uphold the laws of the state.
