Republican Rep.
Nancy Mace (SC-01), long vilified by critics for publicly exposing alleged sexual predators tied to her personal life, now appears to have been substantially corroborated by law enforcement in her own state.
In February 2025, during a lengthy Special Orders address on the House floor, Mace accused her ex-fianc, Brendan Patrick Bryant, and three of his business associates Eric Bernard Bowman, John Douglas Osborne, and Brian Musgrave of a series of sex-related crimes, documenting what she described as a pattern of predation against women and girls. According to RedState, she further asserted that she possessed extensive proof, declaring she had a trove of 10,000 videos and other photographic material to substantiate her knowledge of the alleged assaults.
In that speech, Mace recounted the moment she says she first uncovered the alleged wrongdoing. In November 2023, I accidentally uncovered some of the most heinous crimes against women imaginable. We're talking about rape, non-consensual photos, non-consensual videos of women and underaged girls. And the premeditative, calculated exploitation of women and girls in my district.
As reported by RedState, Mace laid out a detailed timeline of how she came into possession of the damaging information, including specific dates and alleged incidents. In a move many conservatives saw as an attempt to intimidate and silence a sitting member of Congress, Bryant responded in November by suing Mace, accusing her of fabricating 2018 allegations that he participated in the sexual assault of a Jane Doe at a partners home.
Now, the legal landscape has shifted dramatically. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has arrested Bryant, Bowman, and Osborne on alleged sex-related offenses tied to that same 2018 incident.
SLED records indicate that Maces ex-fianc, Brendan Patrick Bryant, along with his associates Eric Bernard Bowman and John Douglas Osborne, have been charged in connection with an October 2018 episode on Sullivans Island. Affidavits state that a 23-year-old woman had been drinking, fell into a swimming pool, and later passed out on a sofa, so intoxicated she could neither speak coherently nor walk normally.
Investigators allege that while the woman was unconscious, the three men discussed sexual exploits before agreeing that Osborne would have sex with her as the other two watched and took photographs. South Carolina law enforcement officials further noted that the incident was captured on a home security system feed on Sullivans Island, and another woman reportedly witnessed the assault, took pictures, and documented it in a journal, according to the Associated Press.
Osborne now faces charges of first-degree assault and battery and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Bowman has been charged with voyeurism, obstruction of justice, and publishing the name of a victim of criminal sexual conduct, while Bryant has been charged with voyeurism.
SLED announced that three prominent Lowcountry businessmen Patrick Bryant, Eric Bowman and John Osborne have all been arrested on sexually related offenses early Wednesday morning. Brian Musgrave, the fourth man named by Mace in her 2025 remarks, has thus far avoided any criminal charges.
Mace was relentlessly attacked by political opponents and much of the media for daring to air these allegations from the House floor, even as President Trumps second administration has emphasized law and order and the protection of victims. Depending on how the SLED prosecutions unfold, the congresswoman who was once mocked and maligned for speaking out may ultimately leave office not as a pariah, but as a vindicated whistleblower who refused to be cowed by powerful men and their enablers.
