A longtime Democratic strategist is calling out legacy media for what he describes as a willful refusal to confront the threat of radical Islamic terrorism after a near-disastrous midair attack on a commercial flight bound for Israel.
During a FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv on Wednesday, a knife-wielding pilot allegedly tried to stab a fellow pilot, sending the jet into a terrifying plunge of roughly 16,000 feet before it made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, according to Just The News. Mark Penn, a former top adviser to President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton who now heads a communications firm, took aim at a Wall Street Journal report on the incident, arguing that the piece, titled "The cockpit stabbing and terrifying nosedive that brought chaos to FlyDubai Flight 1073," sidestepped any serious discussion of potential links to radical Islamic terror networks.
"Ive never seen a greater disconnect from reality in covering the news," Penn wrote on X, accusing the Journal of downplaying the ideological context that conservatives have long warned the media is too eager to ignore. He faulted the article for refusing to explore possible motives beyond vague references to "troubling possibilities," while still finding space to mention the war in Iran and the war against Hamas in Gaza.
Authorities have not yet disclosed what the pilot accused of the attack has said about his motive, nor have they released any evidence clarifying what may have driven the alleged assault. Penn argued that the medias silence on obvious terror-related angles fits a broader pattern of deflection, writing, "No mention here of Oct. 7th, Hamas or Hezbollah or Irans link to terrorism in the UK yesterday clearly the US or Israel must be to blame for this incident."
