Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) is demanding a public death sentence for Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy, branding her a serial killer and insisting her execution should serve as a stark deterrent to other women.
According to the New York Post, Mace, a 48-year-old mother of two, told TMZ that Her children are dead, she should be dead too, as Clancy faces a likely retrial after a hung jury in her first proceeding. The congresswoman argued that She should get the death penalty. It should be public. It should be a public execution, adding that Clancy deserves nothing less.
Pressing the point, Mace said she was indifferent to the method of execution, declaring, It could be by firearm, it could be electric chair, I dont really care, before concluding, Shes a serial killer. She later asserted that such a punishment would serve as a warning to women everywhere you dont kill your kids, underscoring a tough-on-crime stance that many conservatives argue is necessary to protect children and uphold moral order.
Clancys trial over the 2023 strangling deaths of her three young children ended in a mistrial on Sept. 4 after jurors failed to reach unanimity. Her defense team sought a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity, with eleven jurors reportedly in agreement and a single holdout preventing a final decision.
In a move widely criticized as legally baseless, Clancys attorney, Kevin Reddington, made a last-ditch appeal to President Trump for a pardon, a request both he and Trump later conceded was impossible because the case is a state, not federal, matter.
