Jessica Tarlov, one of the most prominent liberal voices on Fox News, has now openly admitted she wishes Donald Trump had prevailed in the 2020 presidential race.
According to the Gateway Pundit, Tarlovs surprising confession came during an interview with The New Yorker, where she reflected on the political fallout of the last several years. Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov said she wishes Donald Trump had won the 2020 presidential election so we were done with him by now. The Democratic strategist and rotating cohost of The Five argued that the years President Trump spent out of office only strengthened his political standing, likening him to a Disney villain who grows more powerful in exile.
She explained that Trumps four years out of office only helped him, comparing him to Disney villain Ursula, saying he got stronger. I look back to the 2020 lines of argumentation about why we needed Donald Trump out and what Joe Biden could provide, and it was a safe pair of hands, Tarlov said. And I believe without COVID that Trump would have won re-election, and I wish that he had. I wish we were done now.
Tarlov went further, warning that President Trumps movement has become more organized and ideologically focused during his time away from the Oval Office. She continued, Because he, like Ursula, got stronger in those four years. He established a cadre of advisors that understood the challenge. Like, Russ Vought wasnt as powerful round one. Stephen Miller is certainly not as powerful. Project 2025, not a thing, right?
Her frustration was not reserved for Trump alone; she sharply criticized her own partys performance and messaging. Tarlov said she hates that we gave them four years to take a sledgehammer to the country, and [the Democrats] havent found a way to deliver our vision for the future in simple slogans.
Host David Remnick pressed her on why Democrats have failed to communicate effectively with voters, asking, Because were too decorous? Too mild? I dont know, Tarlov answered. I mean, I have a Ph.D, so I get it. I get why its interesting to write a big policy paper or dig deep into what happened. But for me, its like, just give me the bumper stickers. Wheres your no tax on tips? But we, like good liberals, have ingested all of these learnings and have yet to spit something out that can win an election on our ideas and our merits, and not just not being the other guy.
For conservatives, Tarlovs remarks amount to an inadvertent admission that the Lefts crusade to remove President Trump from office has backfired, energizing his base and sharpening his agenda. While millions of Trump supporters maintain that he was the rightful winner in 2020, even a high-profile Democrat strategist now concedes that driving him from the White House did not end his influenceit amplified it, leaving her party to grapple with the consequences of the very political bed they made.
