Florida Democrats Just Nominated A Socialist Train Wreck To Face Ashley Moody

Florida Democrats have handed Republicans an unexpected gift in the Sunshine State, elevating one of the most radical left-wing figures in the country as their nominee for the U.S. Senate.

According to The Gateway Pundit, Florida GOP Senator Ashley Moody hardly needed assistance from the opposition in her primary, yet Democrats obliged by nominating State Rep. Angie Nixon, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, over retired Lt. Col. Alex Vindman. Vindman, the National Security Council staffer who became a star witness in the 2019 impeachment spectacle over President Donald Trumps Ukraine phone call, suffered a stinging defeat in Tuesdays Democratic primary, a clear rebuke to one of the central players in the coordinated deep-state effort to undermine the President.

Nixon, a Jacksonville legislator, has aligned herself with virtually every hard-left policy on the progressive wish list. She backs Medicare for All, a national rent freeze and eviction moratorium, a universal government jobs program, abolishing ICE, and a host of other big-government schemes that would expand federal power and burden taxpayers.

Her conduct has been as extreme as her agenda. During final passage of a Governor Ron DeSantis-backed redistricting bill in April, Nixon donned a pink jumpsuit, seized a pink bullhorn, and began shouting down the proceedings.

This is a violation of the Constitution! It is! she yelled. What yall are doing is illegal! She escalated further, declaring, I will not allow you to destroy our democracy! and, You are out of order!

Her theatrics did nothing to stop the legislation. The Florida House approved the DeSantis-backed map in an 8328 vote, and the Florida Senate followed suit days later.

Nixons activism soon crossed into alleged criminal behavior. In May, she was arrested after staging a sit-in at DeSantiss Tallahassee office to protest the redistricting maps.

She now faces two misdemeanor charges: trespassing and resisting an officer without violence. As WFLA notes, a Leon County jury trial is scheduled to begin the week of September 21, 2026.

Despite these legal troubles and the reality that a far-left socialist faces almost insurmountable odds in deep-red Florida, Nixon used a CNN appearance to issue a brazen threat to Moody. I look forward, Ashley Moody, to taking you on and to whooping you in November, and YOU WILL be calling me your Senator, she boasted to anchor Laura Coates, who appeared visibly dismayed by the outburst.

Republicans across Florida are no doubt amused by Democrats decision to nominate a self-described socialist under criminal indictment in a state that has moved decisively to the right. Yet in a volatile national climate and with Democrats increasingly willing to use lawfare and media power against their opponents, conservatives understand that even a seemingly lopsided race cannot be treated as automatic, and will likely treat Nixons candidacy as one more reminder of how far left the Democratic Party has drifted.
