Democrats continue to insist they are alarmed by the socialist surge within their ranks, yet their actions suggest a party quietly accommodating the far left rather than restraining it.
According to RedState, that disconnect was laid bare during a recent NewsNation interview with Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) Co-Chair Megan Romer, who was pressed on whether party insiders had urged her to moderate the groups most extreme demands.
Romer has openly championed proposals that would dismantle foundational American institutions, including abolishing the Senate, the Supreme Court, national borders, and even the presidency itself.
Host Chris Cuomo framed the obvious political concern, telling Romer, "Democrats have to be calling you, right, and saying, 'Listen, love the energy, love that you're getting these new voters, love that you're getting us back in the blue-collar business. It's great, it's great," before adding, "'But just, you gotta relax a little bit with the abolish this and get rid of that.'"
"It sounds radical, it sounds like you want to destroy our Constitutional Republic," he warned, capturing what many ordinary voters likely think when they hear calls to erase the very structures that safeguard their liberties.
Romers response, however, undercut the narrative that party professionals are pushing back against the radicals in their midst.
"Not a single phone call from a Democratic operative has come to my phone," she admitted, confirming that no one in the Democratic establishment has even bothered to ask her to tone down the rhetoric.

This quiet complicity aligns with recent comments from Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17), who discussed the DSAs growing clout with Fox News host Shannon Bream. "Ill tell you why theyre winning. People are upset at an unfair political and economic system," he said, offering justification rather than resistance to the socialist advance.
Khanna went further, conceding that his party has failed the very workers it claims to champion. "The Democratic Party needs reform. Look, this is a party that hasnt delivered enough for working-class Americans," he added, declining to challenge the DSAs radical prescriptions and instead attempting to rebrand them as "economic patriotism."
Media narratives, such as a piece in The Hill suggesting Democrats privately fear the DSAs rise, now look increasingly suspect in light of Romers admission and Khannas posture. You now have to argue to voters that you arent insane when you want to talk about making groceries cheaper, Democratic strategist Steve Schale said, according to the outlet, responding directly to Romers initial interview outlining the DSA platform.
Yet it is difficult to argue sanity when party leaders refuse to draw clear lines against those advocating the abolition of Americas core institutions while President Trumps second administration works to restore constitutional limits and economic freedom. When Democrats decline to distance themselves from activists who openly target the Senate, the Supreme Court, borders, and the presidency, voters are left to conclude that the radical agenda is not a fringe aberration, but an increasingly accepted vision within the Democratic Party itself.
