The alleged suicide note of disgraced New York financier Jeffrey Epstein, long the subject of speculation and controversy, has now been made public by a federal judge.
According to Western Journal, the handwritten note surfaced in July 2019 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan, where Epstein was being held on sex trafficking-related charges. The document was reportedly discovered by Epsteins cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, tucked inside a graphic novel belonging to Epstein shortly after Epsteins failed attempt to hang himself in his cell that same month.
Tartaglione, a former police officer facing his own federal charges, retained the note as evidence that he had not tried to kill Epstein, according to the New York Post. The case was overseen by Federal District Judge Kenneth Karas of White Plains, New York, who ultimately agreed to unseal the note after The New York Times petitioned the court for its release.
The note, described as barely legible, appears to capture Epsteins anger and despair over his legal predicament. In it, he wrote, They investigated me for months FOUND NOTHING!!! followed by the complaint, So 16 year old charge results!
Epstein also seemed to reflect on the prospect of ending his own life, writing, It is a treat to be able to choose ones time to say goodbye. He then added a bitter, mocking line: Watcha want me to do Bust out cryin!!
The final words of the note underscore a sense of nihilism that has fueled ongoing public doubt about the official narrative surrounding Epsteins death. He concluded, NO FUN NOT WORTH IT!! a grim coda that, for many Americans, will only deepen questions about how such a high-profile inmate, tied to powerful political and financial elites, was left in a position to die in federal custody.
