An abortion provider in Sacramento, California, is moving into the beauty business, offering cosmetic procedures to women after Planned Parenthoods stream of federal funding was curtailed.
According to Breitbart, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte is now marketing cosmetic injectables and related services as it scrambles to replace taxpayer dollars that once flowed freely from Washington. Planned Parenthood Mar Montes Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Laura Dalton, told KCRA the organization is expanding their model to include aesthetic offerings, a move that underscores how deeply the loss of federal funds has cut into the groups bottom line.
Were providing [a] neurotoxin which is commonly referred to as Botox. And hopefully in a few weeks well be launching fillers and sclerotherapy, she said, describing a menu of procedures more commonly associated with upscale med-spas than with a controversial abortion provider. Only a handful of facilities in the Sacramento region currently offer these services, but Dalton indicated the program could eventually extend across its network of 30 clinics, embedding cosmetic care within an infrastructure built on abortion and so?called reproductive services.
According to Dalton, the organization has no intention of retreating from its abortion business even as it pivots into beauty treatments, signaling that the new offerings are meant to supplement, not replace, its core operations. Meanwhile, ABC 7 reported, It remains unclear how much revenue Planned Parenthood expects from its new aesthetics and IV services, which only began last month. Leaders say the goal is to help sustain core reproductive health services as financial pressures mount.
The financial squeeze intensified after Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit in July against President Donald Trumps administration over a provision in the Big, Beautiful Bill that halted the groups Medicaid funding for one year, Breitbart News reported. Lawmakers originally tried to defund the organization for ten years, but the timing was changed to one year in the final version of the bill. While pro-life organizations view the move as a battle won, they are pledging to continue fighting to have the organization permanently defunded through debarment, the report said.
Planned Parenthoods most recent annual report revealed record numbers of abortions and taxpayer funding in 2023-2024. In response, California Democrats stepped in to shield the nations largest abortion provider from the consequences of federal restraint, allocating more than $140 million in October to keep the operation afloat, according to Breitbart News.
More recently, state lawmakers approved an additional $90 million in February for Planned Parenthood and allied clinics, ensuring that even as Washington attempts to limit taxpayer entanglement with abortion, Sacramento is doubling down. For critics, the spectacle of an abortion giant branching into Botox while relying on massive state subsidies only reinforces the argument that this is a well-funded political enterprise, not a hard-pressed charity in need of endless public support.
