Jeffrey Epstein intended to shower his longtime girlfriend with tens of millions of dollars, a 33-carat diamond ring, and some of his most infamous properties, including Pedo Island and his Manhattan mansion, under a will he signed just two days before his death.
According to the Daily Mail, the convicted sex offenders August 8, 2019 will laid out how his then-estimated $288 million fortune and global real estate portfolio would be divided among at least 44 beneficiaries. The document, executed shortly before Epstein was found dead in his New York jail cell while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, was countersigned by his lawyer, Darren Indyke, eight days after Epsteins death.
Instead of those named beneficiaries receiving the vast sums he earmarked for them, Epsteins estate was ultimately funneled into a trust that has since been used to compensate victims, pay taxes, and cover mounting legal fees. Recent accounts indicate that just $127 million remains of the original fortune, underscoring how the fallout from his crimes has consumed the wealth he once used to buy influence and silence.
The will, now released by the U.S. Department of Justice as part of the latest tranche of Epstein files, shows he intended to leave his girlfriend, Karyna Shuliak, $50 million. Ms Shuliak, originally from Belarus, is believed to have been romantically involved with Epstein for between eight and ten years, remaining close to him even as his predatory behavior became public.
Her sex offender boyfriend also planned to transfer to her paedophile island Little Saint James in the U.S. Virgin Islands, his sprawling Zorro Ranch in New Mexico, his notorious New York townhouse, and additional properties in Paris and Florida. In a striking symbol of the life he envisioned with her, he also earmarked for Shuliak a 33-carat diamond ring flanked by baguette-cut diamonds mounted in platinum.
Epstein left a handwritten note on the will explaining that the ring was in contemplation of marriage, suggesting he hoped to formalize the relationship despite his status as a registered sex offender and the looming federal case against him. The document further reveals that his inner circle stood to gain handsomely, even as his victims continued to seek justice.
Lawyer Mr Indyke was set to receive $50 million, while Epsteins longtime accountant, Richard Kahn, was due to inherit $25 million. His close associate Ghislaine Maxwell, now serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, was to receive $10 million, the same amount designated for his brother Mark Epstein and his pilot, Larry Visoski.
Ms Shuliak was the last person to speak with Epstein by phone before his reported suicide, a detail that has fueled ongoing speculation about his final days. Prison records also show that she visited him in person at the Metropolitan Correctional Center just 11 days before his death, underscoring her continued loyalty as his legal troubles intensified.
She had been among several individuals aboard Epsteins private jet when he was arrested in July 2019, after the FBI intercepted him on his return from Paris at New Jerseys Teterboro Airport, a favored hub for wealthy private fliers. Originally from Minsk, she is believed to have arrived in the United States in 2009 and entered into a marriage with Epstein associate Jennifer Kalin, a relationship that later gave way to her intimate involvement with Epstein himself.
Within a few years, Shuliak became romantically entangled with the disgraced financier and reportedly earned the nickname the inspector for her obsessive monitoring and snooping on him during their relationship. Her role in Epsteins life remained largely hidden from public view until several months after his death, when her connection was finally exposed.
Epstein is said to have financed her mothers costly medical treatment and may have helped pay for the upscale residence where her parents now live in Minsk, a relatively affluent enclave in an otherwise rundown capital city. These financial ties highlight how Epstein used his wealth to cultivate loyalty and dependence, a pattern conservatives often note as emblematic of how unaccountable elites operate behind closed doors.
The Department of Justice on Friday released three million documents from the Epstein files, a massive disclosure that continues to raise uncomfortable questions about who enabled and benefited from his crimes. Among the materials are thousands of photographs and videos, including images of disgraced royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor crouching over a woman lying on the floor and touching her stomach.
Other emails reveal that Andrews ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, 66, once described the paedophile financier as the brother I have always wished for, a remark that underscores how deeply Epstein had embedded himself within Western high society. Correspondence from 2002 between Andrew, 65, who used the moniker The Invisible Man, and Maxwell shows him seeking Maxwells permission to spend time with his ex-wife and children instead of traveling to the United States, further illustrating the disturbing intimacy between the royal and Epsteins inner circle.
