Actress Glenn Close has joined a growing chorus of Hollywood elites denouncing President Donald Trump and federal law enforcement, declaring she feels outraged and sickened over what is happening under the Trump regime.
.
According to Breitbart, the Hillbilly Elegy star released a video on social media reacting to Border Patrol agents shooting Alex Pretti during an altercation in Minneapolis, using the incident to launch a sweeping attack on the current administration and American institutions.
In language echoing the lefts most extreme talking points, Close claimed, I have watched our democracy being systematically disemboweled and torn apart along with the institutions, which in the near past, though never perfect, have stabilized our society and supported the American people, suggesting that the nations core framework is under existential threat.
Close escalated her rhetoric further, asserting, I am outraged and sickened by what is happening under the Trump regime. The cruelty, inhumanity, and arrogance, the voracious corruption, the cowardice, the sickening hypocrisy, the blatant manipulation of facts, and now, the cold-blooded murder of American citizens, a sweeping indictment that offers more emotional outrage than evidence. Her comments reflect a broader trend in the entertainment industry, where actors and directors increasingly portray lawful immigration enforcement and border security as inherently immoral, while ignoring the complex realities of crime, sovereignty, and national security.
Other celebrities have echoed Closes sentiments, turning their platforms into megaphones for progressive activism rather than balanced debate. As Breitbart News reported, Natalie Portman called Trumps government absolutely horrific, insisting, What theyre doing is really the worst of the worst of humanity, before pivoting to praise left-wing activism: Then you also have the best of the best of humanity, for the way people are showing up for each other, in community, and Americans coming out to support each other, protect each other, and fight against injustice.
Portman added, I could not be prouder to be American right now, by the way the Americans are acting, and I couldnt be sadder to be American right now by the way that the government is acting, framing patriotic sentiment as opposition to the sitting administration rather than respect for constitutional order. Actress Olivia Wilde struck a similar note, telling Variety on the Sundance red carpet that she is appalled and sickened by ICE, the very agency tasked with enforcing immigration law passed by Congress.
We cant go another day just sort of accepting this as our new norm. Its outrageous. People are being murdered, Wilde said, before condemning the visibility of violence online: And, I dont want to normalize seeing people being murdered on the internet. On film. Its hideous. And so if we can do anything out here to support the movement to cast ICE out, to delegitimize this unbelievably criminal organization, then thats what we should be doing. While these Hollywood figures rail against the Trump regime and call to cast ICE out, they offer little acknowledgment of the rule of law, the dangers posed by open borders, or the millions of Americans who support secure borders and expect their government to enforce existing immigration statutes.
