President Donald Trump revealed on Monday that Minnesotas Democrat Governor Tim Walz had personally reached out to him seeking cooperation with respect to Minnesota, prompting what the President described as a very good and constructive conversation.
According to The Post Millennial, President Trump detailed the exchange in a written statement that underscored both his willingness to assist the state and his insistence on restoring law and order. Governor Tim Walz called me with the request to work together with respect to Minnesota, Trump wrote.
It was a very good call, and we, actually, seemed to be on a similar wavelength. I told Governor Walz that I would have Tom Homan call him, and that what we are looking for are any and all Criminals that they have in their possession. The Governor, very respectfully, understood that, and I will be speaking to him in the near future. He was happy that Tom Homan was going to Minnesota, and so am I! We have had such tremendous SUCCESS in Washington, D.C., Memphis, Tennessee, and New Orleans, Louisiana, and virtually every other place that we have 'touched' and, even in Minnesota, Crime is way down, but both Governor Walz and I want to make it better!
The outreach from Walz followed President Trumps announcement earlier Monday that he was dispatching his border and immigration point man, Tom Homan, to Minnesota as part of an escalating crackdown on illegal immigration and related crime. The move reflects a broader conservative approach that prioritizes border security, enforcement of existing laws, and a tough stance on criminal activity tied to immigration failures.
I am sending Tom Homan to Minnesota tonight. He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there. Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me. Separately, a major investigation is going on with respect to the massive 20 Billion Dollar, Plus, Welfare Fraud that has taken place in Minnesota, and is at least partially responsible for the violent organized protests going on in the streets. Additionally, the DOJ and Congress are looking at 'Congresswoman' Illhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars. Time will tell all. In highlighting alleged 20 Billion Dollar, Plus, Welfare Fraud and the scrutiny of Rep. Ilhan Omar, Trump signaled that federal authorities are prepared to dig into both financial misconduct and the political networks that may be fueling unrest.
Walz, however, has taken a sharply different public line on federal immigration enforcement, echoing progressive rhetoric that seeks to delegitimize agencies tasked with upholding the law. Over the weekend, the governor urged Americans to stop calling ICE law enforcement. They are not law enforcement.
He further claimed that he had pressed the White House to pull federal personnel out of Minnesota. Walz said that he had spoken with Trumps chief of staff and requested that they get these federal agents out of there. They were going to cause more chaos.
His remarks came after anti-ICE agitator Alex Pretti was fatally shot in Minneapolis by a Border Patrol agent, an incident authorities say occurred while Pretti was armed. Rather than acknowledge the dangers faced by federal officers confronting armed activists, Walz chose to escalate his criticism of the President and his immigration agenda.
This will end when enough Americans say this will end. Do I have any confidence Donald Trump will do the right thing? No, I don't have a lot of confidence Donald Trump will do the right thing. I do have a lot of confidence that the majority of the American people will do the right thing, and I think there cannot be very many people across this country looking right now after all the reporting that's been done, after everything that's been said under the pretense that they are here about immigration reform, Walz said.
His public skepticism of the President stands in stark contrast to his private request for cooperation, underscoring the political tension between a governor catering to a progressive base and a President focused on law enforcement, border security, and rooting out fraud that burdens taxpayers and destabilizes communities.
