Watch: Minnesota Sheriff Goes Full Welcome Wagon On Somali Community

Minnesota's Somali community has recently been thrust into the spotlight due to allegations of substantial financial backing for African terrorists and President Donald Trump's termination of their protected immigrant status.

Amidst this turmoil, a video has emerged featuring a Somali sheriff in Minnesota attempting to reassure his community.

In the video, the sheriff, himself a Somali, along with other Somali police officers, pledges to safeguard the Somali community. "As Somali police officers, we work for you (Somalians) day and night, we stand for you and serve you," he stated.

He emphasized their shared refugee background, cultural understanding, and language proficiency as factors that distinguish them from "foreigners or white officers." He added, "Know this, every Somali police officer, whether you're in the homeland or aboard, works for you (Somalians)."

The sheriff's message, delivered in Somali, sparked a flurry of social media reactions, with comments ranging from "Minnesotastan" to "His priorities are misaligned. He should be concerned about every citizen" and "There is a problem in Minnesota."

According to WND, City-Journal has accused Minnesota's large Somali community of exploiting public programs and funneling money back to Somalia. The report alleges that Minnesota taxpayers are now the primary funders of the Muslim terror network al-Shabaab due to this activity.

The report further claims that Minnesota's social programs are riddled with fraud, with billions of taxpayer dollars stolen during Governor Tim Walz's administration alone.

In response to these allegations, President Trump terminated the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somalis in Minnesota, a designation granted when it is unsafe for nationals to return to their home countries.

"Minnesota, under Governor Waltz, is a hub of fraudulent money laundering activity. I am, as President of the United States, hereby terminating, effective immediately the Temporary Protected Status (TPS program) for Somalis in Minnesota. Somali gangs are terrorizing the people of that great State, and BILLIONS of dollars are missing. Send them back to where they came from. Its OVER!," Trump announced on Truth Social.

The Somali community in Minnesota has previously faced controversy when a Somali police officer was accused of fatally shooting a Minneapolis woman who had called for police assistance. The woman, Justine Diamond, had recently become engaged and had called the police to report a suspected attack in her neighborhood. The responding officer, Mohamed Mohamed Noor, shot and killed her as she approached the police car. Noor was initially convicted of murder but was later sentenced to prison for manslaughter and has since been released.

These incidents underscore the complex dynamics within Minnesota's Somali community, raising questions about the balance between cultural understanding and broader civic responsibilities, as well as the potential misuse of public funds. As the debate continues, it is clear that the role of Somali police officers and the community's relationship with the wider Minnesota population will remain under scrutiny.
