Watch: Miranda Devine Asks J.D. Vance If Tension Could Arise With Marco Rubio Over 2028 Ticket!

In a recent episode of the podcast "Pod Force One," host Miranda Devine engaged Vice President JD Vance in a discussion about the potential dynamics between him and Secretary of State Marco Rubio concerning the 2028 GOP presidential ticket.

The conversation arose amid President Donald Trump's decision to rule out a third-term bid, while simultaneously endorsing both Vance and Rubio as formidable contenders for the future Republican nomination.

According to the Daily Caller, Devine posed a question to Vance regarding the possibility of tension between him and Rubio, given their respective political ambitions and Rubio's previous presidential run. "The President doesnt mention who will be running for president and who [for] Vice President," Devine remarked. "Now, everyone assumes it would be you, but Marco Rubio is 13 years older. Hes run for President before. Would there be any tension there?"

Vance responded with a light-hearted demeanor, dismissing any notion of discord. "Theres not going to be any tension. Marco is my best friend in the administration. He and I work a lot together I think a lot of the good work that weve been able to do as an administration is because were all able to work together," he stated.

Vance emphasized the importance of focusing on their current roles rather than future political aspirations, adding, "I never want to wake up and so far Ive never woken up and thought to myself, How do I make myself president of the United States? What I wake up and think to myself is, How do I do a good job as vice president? And I think Marco Rubio asks himself, How do I do a good job as secretary of state? And that should be the question that each of us keeps on asking ourselves."

The prospect of Vance leading the 2028 ticket has garnered attention from various political analysts and commentators. CNN's chief data analyst, Harry Enten, highlighted Vance's strong position in early polls and the historical trend favoring sitting vice presidents in securing their party's nomination.

Additionally, figures such as Democratic strategist James Carville, Daily Caller News Foundation co-founder Tucker Carlson, and Republican strategist Scott Jennings have all speculated on Vance's potential candidacy.

Political analyst Mark Halperin also weighed in on the matter, predicting in May that both Vance and Rubio would feature on the 2028 ticket, though he refrained from specifying who might take the lead. Rubio himself has expressed support for Vance, stating on Fox News "My View with Lara Trump" in July that "JD Vance would be a great nominee" should he decide to pursue the presidency.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the camaraderie between Vance and Rubio within the administration suggests a collaborative approach to governance, prioritizing effective leadership over personal ambition. This dynamic could prove advantageous for the Republican Party as it prepares for the next presidential election cycle, with both figures potentially playing pivotal roles in shaping its future direction.
