In a recent opinion editorial by Ben Shapiro for DailyWire.com, Shapiro discusses the current political climate surrounding U.S. President Joe Biden's re-election bid.
Shapiro highlights the recent polls from Emerson Polling that show former President Donald Trump leading in several key states.
According to Shapiro, "A brand new set of polls from Emerson Polling finds that Donald Trump is currently up five points in Pennsylvania, five points in Georgia, one point in Michigan, four points in Arizona, three points in Wisconsin, and six points in Nevada." He describes this as a potential "Donald Trump blowout."
Shapiro also quotes CNN's Harry Enten, who stated that Biden's polling numbers are worse than any Democrat's since the year 2000. Enten said, "Right now Donald Trump leads in an aggregate of national polls by about three percentage points. If you go back four years ago at this point, Joe Biden was ahead by nine points. This, right now, [doesnt] look anything like what we saw four years ago at this point. The idea that the polls underestimated Joe Biden last time around, simply put, does not hold any water."
Despite the unfavorable polling numbers and calls for him to end his re-election bid, Biden remains committed to the race. Shapiro quotes Biden as saying, "I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump." Biden also expressed his belief that he is the best person to beat Trump in 2024.
Shapiro criticizes Biden's decision to stay in the race, suggesting that Biden is "delusional" and "blocking out all outside interference and voices at this point." He also points out that Biden did not have a significant opponent in the Democratic nomination process.
Shapiro also discusses Biden's recent appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," where he was defended by hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. Despite this support, Shapiro argues that Biden struggled during the interview, fumbling with his notes and failing to answer questions about his cognitive abilities convincingly.
Shapiro's opinion editorial paints a bleak picture for Biden's re-election bid, citing unfavorable polling numbers, criticism of his debate performance, and questions about his cognitive abilities.
