A North Carolina community is living in fear following a horrifying home invasion that saw a family of five subjected to over an hour of torture, according to The Blaze.

The Harnett County Sheriff's Office reported that the family was ambushed in their garage in Spout Springs in the early hours of June 15.

The victims, who were enjoying a quiet evening in their garage with the door open, were suddenly confronted by a group of men. The family, consisting of a father, mother, their daughter, and the daughter's friend, along with an unidentified fifth person, were forced into their home and brutally assaulted. Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats revealed the chilling details of the incident, stating, "They put a knife and fork on top of the stove and heated it up and they just started sticking it to the body. They were trying to get them to tell them where their money and guns were."

The assailants, who could have been as many as six men, bound the victims with duct tape and subjected them to torture using heated metal. The father, mother, and daughter were later treated for non-life-threatening injuries at UNC-Chapel Hill. The perpetrators managed to escape with some personal belongings and two of the family's cars, possibly in a gray or silver Dodge Challenger with black rims.

The traumatized family has since set up a GoFundMe account to help cover their healthcare costs and replace the stolen items. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting residents to take additional security measures. Jeffery Miller, a local resident, expressed his concern, saying, "Yesterday I had security installed. I thought I was the security, but now I need to have a camera."

The Harnett County Sheriff's Office is urging the public to assist in identifying the suspects. "Due to the violent nature of this incident we ask that you please share this information," the police appealed. The county, situated in the heart of North Carolina, is home to approximately 141,000 residents.
