Stephanopoulos To The Rescue: Only He Can Save Us from Trump, Apparently!

George Stephanopoulos, a prominent figure at ABC News, recently expressed his concerns about the mainstream media's portrayal of former President Donald Trump, during a conversation on "The View."

Stephanopoulos emphasized the need for the media to better articulate the unprecedented threat he believes Trump poses to the United States.

According to The Blaze, Stephanopoulos' comments came as he prepared for an upcoming interview with President Joe Biden. This interview is seen as a crucial opportunity for Biden to regain momentum in his campaign, following a debate performance that failed to reassure the nation of his coherence.

Stephanopoulos' conversation with Biden will not be broadcast live. Instead, select segments will be aired on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET on World News Tonight with David Muir," with the complete interview scheduled for Sunday on This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

During the discussion on "The View," host Joy Behar expressed her concern over Trump's lead over Biden in most swing-state polls, particularly following the recent debate. Stephanopoulos responded by highlighting the unique circumstances surrounding this election.

"I think theres a lot of reasons for it, but really, I think the most important thing that people should understand about this election is how far from normal it is. We have never had a former president, a presidential candidate, who was impeached and then indicted for trying to overturn an election. Never, in all of our history. Weve never had a former president, a presidential candidate, who lies about the election that he lost," Stephanopoulos stated.

He further emphasized the unprecedented nature of a presidential candidate refusing to commit to accepting the results of the forthcoming election. "The peaceful transfer of power is the most fundamental tenet of our democracy," he said. "Refusing to accept it, I think, is un-American. I believe its unconstitutional. And I think its the job of the media to put that into context."

Stephanopoulos, who previously served as communications director for former President Bill Clinton, sees the upcoming interview with Biden as a pivotal moment for the President's re-election campaign. The stakes are high, and a poor performance could potentially lead to Biden stepping down as the Democratic nominee. Regardless of the outcome, the mounting pressure ahead of the interview suggests that its impact may already be significant.
