In a recent episode of his HBO show, Real Time with Bill Maher, comedian Bill Maher criticized Democrats and prosecutors for their handling of cases against former President Donald Trump, stating that they "blew it at every turn."
Maher expressed his frustration with the Democrats, saying, "The Democrats have had four years to put Trump on trial and it is all just going away." He highlighted the various legal challenges that the former president has faced, and the perceived failures in their prosecution.
One of the key points Maher raised was Trump's motion to disqualify Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Wills for alleged misconduct. He remarked, "Theyre gonna take up Trumps argument about Fani Willis. You know, shes the prosecutor: shes having an affair with the guy she hired. I mean, its not relevant to the case, but they left an opening. And now that ones gonna be delayed.
Maher also touched on the case involving classified documents allegedly found at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, dismissing its potential impact by saying, "Thats never gonna happen because thats a Trumpy judge down there."
Turning his attention to the case brought by New York District Attorney Alvin Braggs against Trump, Maher commented, "So it's Stormy or bust." This case alleges that Trump had his attorney pay money to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
Maher used a clip from his 2018 interview with Daniels to illustrate why he believes she is "a bad witness." In the interview, Daniels responded to Maher's question about why she slept with Trump by saying, "I have no idea. It is not a me-too case. I wasn't assaulted. I wasn't attacked or raped, or coerced or blackmailed."
Maher pointed out that Daniels's current narrative differs from her 2018 statements, noting, "That's not what she's saying now." He read some of her recent comments, which he claimed are "all the me-too buzzwords."
Trump's legal team has responded to Daniels's testimony by attempting to have the judge declare a mistrial in DA Bragg's case against him. Trump's attorney, Todd Blanche, argued that Daniels's testimony was "extremely prejudicial" against Trump, had "nothing to do with this case," and was intended to embarrass Trump and "inflame the Jury."
