Patrick Warburton is a very recognizable person in the world of comedy.
He has played a lot of roles that are well-known and popular with many people. These include roles such as the Puddy character on Seinfeld and Joe Swanson on hundreds of episodes of Family Guy. Therefore, he is someone that has gained a reputation around the world.
Fox News reports that Warburton believes the kind of jokes told on Seinfeld stands the test of time. He recently spoke with Fox News Digital about it and said: I think thats why the shows in perpetual syndication and people love it. Theres always, you know, the way things change, and this and that what would fly today? What flew yesterday cant fly today.
He went on to say that he used to feel some pressure about his role on Family Guy and the kind of jokes that he told in that role:
I used to apologize for being on Family Guy, and I apologize no more because this world is a horrible native satire. Everybody takes themselves too seriously, and I think in many ways become an overwhelming mess. But we need humor in our lives, and we need love and humor, acceptance. Its all rather simple.
Warburton has decided that he will not stand for being the kind of person who gets beaten down for the kind of jokes he has told.
The comedian also said that he used to avoid talking about his role on Seinfeld when he was on stage in front of an audience or speaking to the media because he was afraid he would say something stupid that he would regret.
He said: You know, its funny. You make a comment on something that was actually in an interview in Australia, and I was working on a project down there, and they asked me about working on Seinfeld. And I said, Oh, yeah, I avoided Jerry like the plague, which is thats the story. Its like, everybodys curious, Why? Youre such a horrible person? It was just simply because I knew how fortunate I was to be on that show and I wanted to hit my marks, get my laughs, get out of there and just not be an issue and just have em say, Lets bring that guy back. Thats what I wanted.
It is a shame that Warburton felt like he had to hide from the work he did in the past, but it is encouraging to know that he is now moving forward because he stands by what he has done.
