The legal team for the unsuccessful GOP candidate for governor of Arizona, Kari Lake, might be in some legal trouble themselves.
NBC News has learned that some on her legal team have been hit with bar complaints about their actions on her behalf.
Lake has refused to accept that she lost the November election and has faced many legal challenges to the election results from November. She filed lawsuits before and after the elections, she complained about irregularities related to the results.
Now, a federal judge has stepped in and sanctioned some of the lawyers who have continued to offer their services to Lake, although the election was held more than 4 months ago.
The 65 Project is a group attempting to go after lawyers who prop up the claims of those who try to challenge the legitimacy of election results. They are heavily involved in this case and are attempting to hold the lawyers working for Lake responsible for their actions.
This was [a] pre-planned, orchestrated effort to disrupt Arizonas election even before it began and claim that there was fraud, said Michael Teter, the managing director of The 65 Project. He is claiming that the lawyers working for Lake are aware of this fact, yet they continue to push wrong and illegitimate claims about the election.
He has stated that he hopes the complaints launched by his group will result in the suspension or disbarment of the attorneys working for Lake. He feels this is the only way to get the message to them that their actions are unacceptable. He also thinks that its the only way they will finally back off from what they are doing. It might just work in this case.
