A pre-kindergarten teacher has suggested that the idea that toddlers are too young to discuss sex is wrong.
Fox News reports that educator William Willy Villalpando suggested that the idea of toddlers learning about sexuality is not wrong.
Villapando works at Santa Ana College in California and indicates on his Instagram profile that he also is a pre-K educator. Fox News also uncovered that Villapando worked for the Rialto Unified School District from at least 2016 to June 2021. It is still being determined if he will continue to teach at the school for the 2022-2023 academic year, and the school district refused to comment on the story.
Fox News reached out to the e-mail address assigned to Villapando for the school district, but the message was automatically returned for being an invalid address.
In 2020, Villapando suggested that childhood innocence is a myth.
He said: There is a common mythology that children live in this world of pure innocence, and that by introducing or exposing them to the real-world adults are somehow shattering this illusion for them. Therefore, there is a banning of topics and issues that children should not be exposed to, as if they are not experiencing them already.
He also said at a different time: Im tired of the Childhood Innocence argument Stop blaming a phenomenon that doesnt exist.
He also said that it is wrong that children are not exposed to ideas about their sexuality and that the concept of protecting children from the concept of sexuality is such a view is a very white, Christian, upper-class, cis-gendered, and hetero-centric.
He said the following in September 2021: Not talking about Queerness in the Classroom, is NOT Letting Children be Children. Its Telling Those people They Do Not Deserve to Exist.
Finally, he said, Lets work to deconstruct some of our own biases. (Adults incorrectly link discussions on sexuality and gender as equating to discussions about sex.
Therefore, it appears that Villapando would gladly teach your very young children about sexuality if it were all left up to him. That is something that every parent should think about in a situation like this and determine for themselves if this is something that they find to be acceptable. Indeed, most do not.
