Mia Khalifa, a former adult film actress and current OnlyFans personality, has ignited a wave of controversy following her vocal support for Hamas in the wake of the group's unexpected assault on Israel.
Khalifa, who has previously labeled Israel as an apartheid state, has been the subject of widespread criticism after a series of contentious tweets posted since the surprise attack on Saturday, which has resulted in the death of at least 800 Israelis.
Khalifa stated on X, "If you can look at the situation in Palestine and not be on the side of Palestinians, then you are on the wrong side of apartheid, and history will show that in Time." In another tweet on X, she referred to a photograph of Hamas militants as a "Renaissance painting."
The backlash against Khalifa intensified when she wrote, "Can someone please tell the freedom fighters in Palestine to flip their phones and film horizontal." She also took aim at Kylie Jenner for a now-deleted Instagram post expressing support for Israel, stating, "If true journalism exists, the next person to talk to Kylie Jenner will ask for her opinion on geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and not break eye contact until she can string one coherent sentence together since she wants to take a stance to her 400M followers so badly."
Since Saturday, Khalifa has shared numerous posts with her 5 million followers X in defense of the conflict. One such post, originally from influencer Kelbin, suggested that the attacks are "what oppressed fighting the oppressor looks like."
Khalifa, who was prohibited from returning to her native Lebanon, had a brief yet high-profile stint in the adult film industry in 2014. She also made news for alleging that she received death threats from ISIS as recently as 2018, following a scene she filmed wearing a hijab.
