In a recent development, former President Donald Trump has given his "complete & total endorsement" to Representative Jim Jordan for the position of Speaker of the House, lauding him as a figure "respected by all."
Trump made this endorsement via a post on his TRUTH Social platform, where he praised Jordan's journey from Ohio's 4th Congressional District to Washington, D.C. "Congressman Jim Jordan has been a STAR long before making his very successful journey to Washington, D.C., representing Ohios 4th Congressional District," Trump wrote. "Respected by all, he is now Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee."
The former President also recalled his time in office, during which he had the privilege of awarding Jordan with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the country. "As President, I had the honor of presenting Jim with our Countrys highest civilian award, The Presidential Medal of Freedom," Trump stated. "So much is learned from sports, and Jim was a master!"
Trump further highlighted Jordan's impressive wrestling record, noting his achievements at Graham High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. "While attending Graham High School, he won State Championships all four years, a rarity, and compiled an amazing 156-1 record. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Jim became a two-time NCAA Division l Wrestling Champion," Trump shared.
In addition to his athletic prowess, Trump also pointed out Jordan's academic accomplishments, including a master's degree in Education from Ohio State University and a Law Degree from Capital University.
Trump concluded his endorsement by emphasizing Jordan's strong stance on key conservative issues such as crime, borders, military/veterans, and the 2nd Amendment. "He is STRONG on Crime, Borders, our Military/Vets, & 2nd Amendment. Jim, his wife, Polly, & family are outstanding - He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!" Trump affirmed.
This endorsement comes in the wake of Jordan's announcement of his bid for Speaker of the House, following the historic ouster of Representative Kevin McCarthy. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise also announced his bid for the same position.
Interestingly, Trump hinted at the possibility of temporarily assuming the speakership himself if Republicans fail to rally sufficient support for either Jordan or Scalise. "I have been asked to speak as a unifier because I have so many friends in Congress," Trump told Fox News Digital. "If they dont get the vote, they have asked me if I would consider taking the speakership until they get somebody longer-term, because I am running for president."
Trump emphasized that his primary focus remains his presidential campaign, and his potential acceptance of the speakership would be solely for the benefit of the party.
Jordan's bid for the speakership has garnered support from various quarters of the Republican conference, including top House committee chairmen. A congressional source told Fox News Digital, "Jordans efforts have shown that he can unite moderates and conservatives across the conference to get the 218 votes needed to become speaker."
