House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made a significant announcement on Tuesday morning, declaring the initiation of a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden.
In a statement, McCarthy expressed his concerns, stating, "Taken together, these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption." He further added, "Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family's foreign business dealings. Eyewitnesses have testified that the president joined on multiple phone calls and had multiple interactions, dinners, resulted in cars and millions of dollars into his son's and son's business partners."
McCarthy revealed that bank records have exposed nearly $20 million in payments to Biden family members and shell companies. Additionally, the Treasury Department has flagged over 150 transactions involving the Biden family and business associates as suspicious activity.
"These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption. They warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives," McCarthy emphasized.
Consequently, McCarthy directed the House committee to commence a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This crucial step will grant the committees the authority to gather all the necessary facts and provide answers to the American public.
Chairman James Comer of the Committee on Oversight will lead the effort, working in coordination with Chairman Jim Jordan of the Judiciary Committee and Chairman Jason Smith of the Ways and Means Committee.
McCarthy urged all Americans, regardless of their party affiliation or voting preferences, to take these allegations seriously. He stated, "These facts should concern all Americans."
Furthermore, McCarthy encouraged President Biden and his team to fully cooperate with the investigation, emphasizing the importance of transparency.
