The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported that Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee has announced that the court proceedings regarding the case against former President Donald Trump and others will be livestreamed and televised.
McAfee stated, "We have followed Judge McBurney's model, and we have been livestreaming all of our major proceedings on a Fulton County-provided YouTube channel. And our plan was to do that with this case as well. So there's going to be a YouTube feed the entire time," as reported by WSB-TV.
In addition, McAfee has issued an order allowing the use of cellphones and laptops during the proceedings, although recording is prohibited. He also indicated that pool coverage for radio, TV, and still photos will be permitted, according to CBS News.
Following his surrender last week, Trump asserted, "We did nothing wrong at all. And we have every right, every single right, to challenge an election that we think is dishonest." Trump's mug shot has garnered significant media attention and has even proven to be a fundraising coup for his presidential campaign.
Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Trump continues to dominate the polls and appears to be on track to secure the GOP's 2024 nomination. Last week, he opted to skip the first Republican presidential primary debate.
The indictment states, "Defendant Donald John Trump lost the United States presidential election held on November 3, 2020. One of the states he lost was Georgia. Trump and the other Defendants charged in this Indictment refused to accept that Trump lost, and they knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump. That conspiracy contained a common plan and purpose to commit two or more acts of racketeering activity in Fulton County, Georgia, elsewhere in the State of Georgia, and in other states."
