Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy will take center stage at the inaugural GOP presidential nomination debate, as announced by the Republican National Committee on Tuesday.

The highly anticipated event, hosted by Fox News and set to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will also feature former Vice President Mike Pence and former ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

Joining the top-tier candidates in the debate lineup are former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, who will occupy the fifth and sixth positions, respectively. Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum will flank the debate stage.

The Republican National Committee's release in early June outlined the criteria for candidate placement, stating that "qualified candidates will be placed on stage according to polling, with the highest polling candidate in the center."

Ronna McDaniel, chair of the national party committee, expressed enthusiasm for the diverse field of candidates and their conservative vision to defeat President Joe Biden in a statement on Monday night. The RNC is eager to showcase this vision on the debate stage come Wednesday night.

Former President Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 GOP nomination, announced on Sunday that he would not participate in the debate, citing his substantial lead over his rivals.

The stage is set for a riveting exchange of ideas and policy proposals as these prominent Republican figures vie for the party's nomination. With a mix of seasoned politicians and fresh faces, the debate promises to shed light on the future direction of the GOP and its strategy to reclaim the White House.
