'Sky-High' Message Takes A Swing At DeSantis During Iowa State Fair

During an interview with Republican Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds at the Iowa State Fair, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis faced an unexpected attack from the skies.

According to CNN, an airplane carrying a banner flew over the fairgrounds, displaying the message "Be Likable, Ron!".

The incident occurred as Reynolds hosted a "Fair-Side Chat" series, featuring several Republican candidates for the 2024 presidential race, including DeSantis. While the interview was underway, the plane made its presence known, leaving onlookers curious about the identity of the responsible party.

Protesters had already attempted to disrupt DeSantis' appearance at the event by using whistles and cowbells to drown out his speech. Governor Reynolds, however, took a firm stance against the disruption, reminding the protesters that the purpose of the event was to provide a platform for all the candidates. "We're going to have an opportunity to hear from each and every candidate," she asserted. "That's what we've been doing."

During his interview, DeSantis took the opportunity to criticize President Joe Biden. He accused Biden of attacking legislation in Florida that prohibits discussions on gender identity and sexual orientation in kindergarten through third grade, while conveniently ignoring his own family's situation. DeSantis pointed out that Biden had only recently acknowledged his son Hunter Biden's out-of-wedlock daughter in July, after facing significant backlash.

In terms of polling, DeSantis currently holds a 15.1% approval rating in GOP presidential primary polls, according to the RealClearPolitics average collected between July 12 and August 7. As the 2024 presidential race continues to unfold, DeSantis will undoubtedly face both support and opposition from various quarters.
