Attorneys representing Hunter Biden have taken legal action against former President Donald Trump, issuing a cease and desist letter on Thursday.
The letter demands that Trump refrain from making public statements that could potentially incite violence among his easily influenced followers.
The move comes in response to speculation from critics of the president's son, who suggested that a bag of cocaine discovered within the White House may have belonged to Hunter Biden. The letter, addressed to Trump, explicitly requests that he cease making defamatory remarks about Hunter Biden, as they are likely to incite his followers to take action against him or his family, potentially resulting in harm.
The letter specifically quotes Trump's social media posts, highlighting what it refers to as "thinly veiled calls to action" directed towards his easily provoked supporters. One such post expressed Trump's frustration that Hunter Biden had not received a "death sentence" for charges related to tax crimes and lying on a gun license application.
The letter also references an attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and an incident involving a January 6 defendant who was found with firearms and ammunition near the Obama residence after Trump posted the address on social media.
Earlier on Thursday, law enforcement officials announced the closure of the investigation into the cocaine found at the White House. They stated that it was unlikely they would ever determine who left the bag.
Trump had previously responded on social media, asserting that there was no doubt the cocaine belonged to Hunter Biden and his father, Joe Biden.
Hunter Biden has faced numerous scandals due to his ongoing struggle with drug and alcohol addiction. These include the birth of his child with a former stripper he reportedly met at a Washington, D.C. strip bar. He has since settled a child support lawsuit, which also prohibited the child from carrying the Biden surname.
