A Texas Mom Read Vance The Letter Her 11-Year-Old Got About Changing Genders His Answer Has The Left Fuming

Vice President JD Vance told a Texas mother he wants the Department of Justice to look into a letter she says was sent to her 11-year-old daughter about changing genders without her parents knowledge.

Rebekah Smith of Fort Worth raised the letter during a Fox News town hall with the vice president, according to the Washington Examiner. Vance encouraged her to speak with his staff about getting federal investigators involved.

He did not mince words about whoever wrote it. I dont know who sent that letter to your child, but I think the person who sends a letter to an 11-year-old about gender transition, what I call that in my family is a pervert, and that person ought to go to prison, Vance said.

Vance then turned the moment on Texas Democrat James Talarico, who is running for the US Senate against Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton. Hell probably defend the right of the person sending the letter, Vance said, not the right of the parent who is rightfully creeped out by this.

The vice president went further, accusing Talarico of having a weird fascination with trans kids. He said that when Talarico talks about supporting trans kids, what hes actually saying is that he wants to make it impossible for you to protect your children.

Paxton has hammered Talarico on gender issues throughout the race, while the Democrat has been accused of flip-flopping. As a state representative in 2023, Talarico voted against the Texas law banning gender transition surgeries, puberty blockers and hormone treatments for minors, which took effect that September.

Talarico now says he would support a federal ban on transgender surgeries for minors. He has argued the state law was overly broad and has softened his past comments on transgender athletes in womens sports, saying their participation shouldnt come at the cost of safety or fairness.

Before Vance floated a possible DOJ probe, Fox News host Jesse Watters said the network would launch its own journalistic investigation into the perverted letter. The identity of the sender has not been made public.

Vance urged parents to push back against gender ideology aimed at their kids. Why are you going around and trying to convince children to transition their gender? That is sick and disgusting, he said, adding, None of us signed up for it, and weve got to fight back.
