California Gov. Gavin Newsom was recently recorded embracing the Democratic Socialists of America as a rising force inside his party, underscoring how far Democrats are drifting toward the hard left.
According to Just The News, the exchange occurred when an unidentified reporter approached Newsom and introduced herself in the video as a "young voter" who said voters like her want to see more support for "democratic socialist policies" from the Democratic Party, Townhall reported. Rather than tempering that radical demand, Newsom leaned in, insisting that his partys strategy is not to "manage the status quo and fail more efficiently."
So the DSA, the energy and the desire and demand for bold change, not incremental change, is very much going to be dominant. I mean, thats going to be a mainstream democratic movement. Absolutely," Newsom said, signaling that a group openly hostile to free-market principles is poised to shape the Democrats future. He added that the "system's broken" and Democrats can't "play in the margins anymore," rhetoric that echoes the far lefts push for sweeping government expansion rather than targeted reform.
The video was taken in mid-October while Newsom was campaigning in New Hampshire for Democratic House candidate Stefany Shaheen, highlighting how national Democrats are courting socialist-leaning activists even in key swing regions. For voters who favor limited government, individual liberty, and market-based solutions, Newsoms praise for the DSA is a clear warning that the Democratic Party is moving further away from the political center and closer to an openly socialist agenda.
