Ilhan Omar Joined Left-Wing Streamer Hasan Piker On Camera And Gave A Bizarre Excuse For Why Critics Target Her

Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar sparked widespread mockery after telling left-wing Twitch streamer Hasan Piker that critics and the media target them because they look really good on television screens.

According to Western Journal, the exchange took place when Omar appeared on Pikers livestream and Piker complained about why the media has a tendency to highlight everything that left-wing figures do, as reported by the New York Post. Some of the things that I do, like were just normal Americans trying to go about our day-to-day and trying to organize against the Trump administration in the same way that, you know, white people are doing in general, Piker claimed.

Omar responded to Pikers complaint by attributing the intense media spotlight to their physical appearance rather than their political controversies. We just look really good on their screens, Omar claimed during the broadcast.

When a surprised Piker asked, You think thats why they get you? the Minnesota congresswoman nodded and replied, Yes, it is. Maybe a little bit. Piker then chimed in, Theyre like, Shes so charismatic, to which Omar answered, I think thats what it is.

Critics quickly pointed out that neither Piker nor Omar is scrutinized by the press for their looks, noting that Piker previously told former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau, I do mean it, when asked if he meant his claim that Hamas is a thousand times better. Commentators also noted that Omar is currently facing intense federal scrutiny over alleged marriage and immigration fraud involving her second husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.

Beyond her ongoing legal and ethical troubles, conservatives noted that Omar has drawn years of backlash for minimizing the September 11 terrorist attacks, accusing Israel of hypnotizing the world, and claiming in a June 2021 post that the United States and Israel had committed unthinkable atrocities alongside Hamas and the Taliban. Critics argue that it is Omars own record of radical, anti-American statements and mounting scandalsnot her appearance on screenthat keeps her in the national spotlight.
