Zohran Mamdani Administration Signs Multimillion-Dollar Contracts With Vendors Providing Gender-Affirming Care For Minors

New York Citys Mamdani administration has approved nearly $9 million in contracts to fund gender-affirming medical interventions for minors, including puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, deepening a policy divide that already damaged Democrats in the 2024 elections.

According to Gateway Pundit, the city is moving ahead despite mounting public concern and clear political backlash, signaling that Democratic leaders remain tethered to a radical activist base that wont allow them to move on. As reported by the New York Post, The Mamdani administration is entering into two contracts totaling $8.9 million to provide gender-affirming sex reassignment care to transgender patients under the age of 18.

The initiative directly reinforces a policy that the federal Department of Justice has already challenged as medically dangerous and illegal, raising serious questions about the citys willingness to defy federal scrutiny in pursuit of ideological goals. The city Department of Health has selected two vendors Callen-Lorde and Nonprofit Organization for Philanthropic Initiatives under contracts scheduled to run from 2027 to 2029.

This includes the prescription and administration of puberty-blockers and hormone replacement therapy to all minor patients for whom such services are medically necessary based on the prevailing standards of care, the DOH said in a public notice. The department added, Services will be performed by qualified medical providers with current New York State licensure, and will be provided consistent with state laws governing parental consent.

Critics argue that Mayor Zohran Mamdanis team is effectively attempting to sidestep a federal ban on gender-related medical services for minors, prioritizing ideology over child safety and parental rights. Theyre making an ideological decision instead of a medical decision, said state Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar.

Online reaction has been swift and furious, with users on X describing the move as another example of the lefts disregard for parental authority, biological reality, and electoral consequences. As one reaction put it bluntly, Its outrageous, but the left just doesnt care.
