Resurfaced Somali Rally Clip Puts Amy Klobuchar Just 2 Points AheadAnd Minnesota Democrats On Defense

Minnesotas 2026 governors race, once assumed to be a safe Democratic hold, is rapidly turning into a genuine battleground as questions of fraud, judgment, and allegiance to American values converge around Sen. Amy Klobuchar.

According to RedState, the political landscape shifted after controversial Gov. Tim Walz (D) opted not to seek reelection following a fraud scandal that badly damaged Democrats credibility in the state. In his place, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) captured the DemocraticFarmerLabor (DFL) nomination in August and is now facing Republican Lisa Demuth, a Minnesota House member representing District 13A, in what is shaping up to be a far more competitive contest than Democrats anticipated.

Minnesota traditionally leans blue in statewide races, a reality that would normally give Klobuchar a built-in advantage heading into November. Yet Demuth is widely regarded as a strong, disciplined candidate, and the fraud that unfolded under Democratic leadership has become a central issue, giving the Republican a better shot than the conventional wisdom would suggest.

Evidence of a tightening race emerged in a recent Co/efficient survey that has caught the attention of political observers. The poll, conducted September 1415 among likely voters, showed: co/efficient poll | 9/14-9/15 LV Minnesota Governor 2026 ??Amy Klobuchar 47% ??Lisa Demuth 45%.

While Co/efficient is generally viewed as a right-leaning pollster, the numbers still underscore that this contest is far closer than Democrats in a deep-blue-leaning state would prefer. The results suggest Klobuchar may be facing vulnerabilities that cut through her carefully cultivated image as a safe, establishment-friendly Democrat.

Those vulnerabilities were amplified over the weekend when an old video resurfaced online and began circulating widely on X, with many users mistakenly assuming it was new. The footage, actually from 2017, nonetheless raises fresh questions about Klobuchars judgment and priorities at a moment when trust in state leadership is already frayed.

The clip shows Klobuchar at a rally with members of Minnesotas Somali community celebrating the election of Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, known as Farmajo, as President of Somalia. She addresses a crowd of Somalis waving both Somali and American flags, but what she does with one of those American flags is what has many viewers alarmed.

In this video Amy Klobucher, campaigning for Minnesota governor, speaks Somali, happily accepts an upside-down American flag, and brags about making it easier for Somalis in America to send money (much of it fraudulently acquired) to their home country. Klobuchar can be seen waving the upside-down American flag without appearing to notice, while a Somali man behind her laughs, and at around the 33-second mark, another inverted American flag is visible, later waved by another man on stage.

Whether this was ignorance or indifference, the optics are damaging for a candidate seeking to lead an American state as its chief executive. For many voters, especially conservatives and independents, the sight of a would-be governor casually brandishing an inverted U.S. flag at a foreign political celebration is deeply unsettling.

The content of her remarks in the video is also drawing scrutiny in light of Minnesotas fraud scandals. After using a few Somali phrases, Klobuchar boasts of her efforts, saying she worked so hard to reduce the redundant regulations on remittances to Somalia, lessening the burdens for banks. We have more to do, but we will continue to fight for you.

Given the ongoing concerns about fraudulent schemes and abuse of public funds in Minnesota, her celebration of loosening oversight on money transfers abroad strikes many as tone-deaf at best. It reinforces a perception that Democratic officials in the state have been more focused on accommodating niche constituencies than on safeguarding taxpayers and upholding basic standards of accountability.

All of this is likely to further tighten an already close race and energize conservative and swing voters who are uneasy with the direction of the Democratic Party. Klobuchar isn't even supposed to be one of the many radical Democrats, but rather a mainstream Democrat, yet episodes like this expose how off they all are, and how vital it is that everyone does all they can to vote against them in favor of candidates like Lisa Demuth who are more aligned with traditional American values and responsible governance under President Trumps second administration.
