Major Music Executive Arrested On Felony Strangulation Charge, Report Says

Rapper Rick Ross reportedly surrendered to Miami-Dade Police on Thursday morning, where he was booked on one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor battery charge.

According to the Daily Caller, the accusations stem from an alleged domestic incident on August 28 involving Ross ex-girlfriend, who spoke to police on Tuesday after contacting law enforcement, as relayed by TMZ. The case, now moving through the criminal justice system, raises familiar concerns about due process and the presumption of innocence in an era when public opinion often races ahead of the facts.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the woman claimed she had been asleep in their shared home when Ross allegedly woke her in a jealous rage over a photograph in which she had been tagged on social media. She alleged that Ross slapped her in the face, struck her repeatedly in the chest, and choked her until she could no longer breathe.

The ex-girlfriend further told police that Ross accused her of being romantically involved with another man and allegedly hit her each time she denied the accusation. She also claimed he grabbed her by the ponytail and slammed her against a wall, according to TMZs reporting.

Sources close to the matter told the outlet that the woman provided police with images of her purported injuries as part of her complaint. Ross, whose real name is William Roberts II, voluntarily turned himself in and entered a plea of not guilty to both charges, remaining in custody on a $5,000 bond for the strangulation count and $1,000 for the battery charge while his attorneys seek his release.

Ross legal team, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein, issued a forceful statement to TMZ defending their client and questioning the accusers motives. William Roberts II, professionally known as Rick Ross, is being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear, they said.

They also highlighted the delay in reporting the alleged incident, casting doubt on the credibility of the claims. The ex did not even file a police report until a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place. Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges.

The attorneys urged the public to resist rushing to judgment, a principle conservatives have long argued is essential to a fair justice system. They continued, He respectfully requests that his friends, fans, and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course.

As the case proceeds, Ross is scheduled to be arraigned on October 22, when prosecutors will have to begin substantiating the allegations in court rather than in the media. For now, the matter rests where it should in a constitutional republic: in the hands of the legal system, not the online mob.
