A new survey suggests that a striking share of Democrat voters are open to President Donald Trump being forced from office through some of the most extreme and anti-democratic means imaginable.
According to WND, the Center for Strategic Politics found that Democrats nationwide overwhelmingly favor scenarios in which President Trump is removed before the end of his term, with support extending even to a military coup and his death from natural causes. The organization explained, We polled five routes for Trump to leave office before the end of his term. A plurality of Dems support four of them, including a military coup and death by natural causes. The only one underwater, an assassination, is still supported by [29%].
The survey asked respondents to imagine waking up to various headlines and to report how they would feel, using the prompt, If you woke up tomorrow morning and saw the following news headlines, how would you feel? Three-quarters of those polled said they would be very positive about Trump being impeached and convicted, underscoring how normalized weaponized impeachment has become on the left.
Support for invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president was nearly as high, with 70% saying they would feel very positive about such a move. Even more disturbing, 45% said they would be enthusiastic about a headline stating he died overnight in his sleep, with another 10% describing themselves as somewhat positive about that outcome.
The appetite for outright military intervention was also notable, with 43% saying they would be very positive about a military coup and another 16% somewhat positive. Not the Bee observed the absurdity of the framing, noting, The pollsters framed the military coup option as one that would safeguard the Constitution, because nothing says constitutional order like tanks in D.C.!
The survey further indicated that Democrats want to revive the lawfare tactics that characterized the Biden-era pursuit of Trump officials, using the justice system as a political bludgeon rather than a neutral arbiter. For instance, 77% of respondents said members of the Trump administration should be jailed for actions taken by ICE and CBP, signaling hostility not just to President Trump but to basic border enforcement itself.
Another recent poll referenced in the report found that the more liberal a respondent is, the more likely he or she is to endorse the death of a political opponent, suggesting a troubling correlation between ideological extremism and support for political violence. As veteran journalist Bob Unruh of WND, who spent nearly three decades with the Associated Press and several Upper Midwest newspapers, continues to document, these trends reveal a left increasingly comfortable with abandoning constitutional norms when it comes to President Trump and those who served alongside him.
