Abdul El-Sayed Rails Against BillionairesThen Heads To Soros Familys Hollywood Mansion For Cash

Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed is running for the U.S. Senate on a promise to drive money out of politics, yet his latest fundraising plans tell a very different story.

According to the Gateway Pundit, El-Sayed is scheduled to headline a high-dollar fundraiser at the West Hollywood home of billionaire George Soros nephew, Jeffrey Soros, a California film producer, and his wife, Catharine Soros. A flyer obtained by Punchbowl News states that the Sept. 28, 2026, meet-and-greet will feature former Obama advisers and Pod Save America hosts Jon Favreau, Tom Vietor and Ben Rhodes, along with other Hollywood insiders, and that each guest can donate up to $57,800 to the Abdul for Michigan Victory Fund.

El-Sayed has built his campaign around attacking the influence of corporations and the ultra-wealthy, insisting he is committed to getting money out of politics. At a previous campaign event, El-Sayed went so far as to say that billionaires could not tell him what else they could actually buy beyond $100 million other than political power.

Yet this out-of-state, big-money California fundraiser will place him squarely in the orbit of the Soros family, whose patriarch, billionaire George Soros, has for decades poured vast sums into left-wing political causes. Soros-backed efforts have included the election of prosecutors who push for bail reform and the elimination of mandatory minimum prison sentences, policies critics say have fueled crime and undermined public safety.

For conservatives, the episode underscores a familiar pattern on the left: Democrats loudly denounce billionaires and corporate influence while eagerly cashing checks from the right kind of billionaires. As President Trumps supporters have long argued, the progressive establishment is not opposed to concentrated wealth in politics so long as it is weaponized to advance their agendaand El-Sayeds Hollywood pilgrimage fits that pattern perfectly.
