According to Just The News, Marin County GOP Chairman John Turnacliff had claimed earlier this year that dozens of dead people cast ballots on Proposition 50, a 2025 redistricting measure, and pressed county officials to investigate. Turnacliff used an open comment period at a county meeting last week to acknowledge that his claims were not substantiated by the evidence. Im here today to retract that statement that I made a few months ago as far as those voters being on the roll. I did not find them. I apologize to the Board of Supervisors, to the registrars office and to the registrar for any angst and consternation that could have put on you since then," Turnacliff said.
Registrar of Voters Natalie Adona had previously told SFGATE that she was under no legal obligation to investigate the chairmans allegations. Nonetheless, she chose to conduct a review in order to maintain trust in the community, a move that reflects how fragile public confidence in elections has become in the wake of repeated disputes, including those raised nationally by President Donald Trump and his supporters.
