Rep. Young Kim (R-CA) has quietly scrubbed prominent references to President Donald Trump and his America First agenda from key sections of her campaign website as she navigates a rare Republican-on-Republican congressional showdown in Southern California.
According to Mediaite, Politico reported that Kims online messaging has undergone a notable makeover since the June primary, when her site hailed her as a Proven Fighter who will Stand with President Trump to deliver a bold America First Agenda. The website also once pledged America First Leadership to Defend the American Dream, language that has now vanished from the homepage in favor of more generic slogans such as taking on Career Politicians to Restore the American Dream and Fighting for the American Dream.
The recalibration appears designed to appeal to moderates in a state where Democrats dominate and where Republicans often feel pressure to mute overtly pro-Trump branding. The shift extends beyond her website, as primary-season yard signs touting Kim as a Trump Republican have reportedly been replaced after the primary with signs reading: Cut Taxes & Lower Costs!
Kims contest against fellow Republican Rep. Ken Calvert was triggered by redistricting that forced two GOP incumbents into the same district, setting up an unusual general election clash within the party. In such a race, the temptation for candidates to blur ideological lines and chase swing voters is strong, especially in a deep-blue state where national Democrats and progressive activists routinely target outspoken Trump allies.
Kims campaign, however, insists there is no retreat from the America First movement or from President Trump himself. Responding to Politicos findings, spokesperson Chris Pack dismissed any such suggestion as completely absurd, pointing to recent social media posts mentioning Trump, including one in which Kim wished the president a happy birthday.
Pack further noted that Kims longer biography on the campaign website still proudly labels her a Proven America First Fighter. He emphasized, Our campaign has consistently framed this race as a choice between an effective leader like Young Kim, who has delivered results in less than three terms in Congress, and Ken Calvert, whose career has been plagued by corruption controversies and FBI investigations, underscoring a contrast conservatives may find compelling.
For now, Kim appears to be threading a political needle: maintaining her America First credentials while softening the branding in a liberal state where open alignment with Trump can be weaponized by the left. Pack added that Trump-related campaign signs are ready for distribution once local rules permit them to be displayed, suggesting that, when the time is right, Kim is prepared to lean visibly into her support for the 45th president and his agenda.
