President Donald Trump spent Labor Day weekend saturating his Truth Social feed with dozens of surreal, AI-generated images that his critics quickly seized upon as evidence of instability, with one prominent detractor demanding 25th Amendment NOW!.
According to Mediaite, President Trump fired off more than 37 posts over several hours on Sunday, many of them depicting fantastical scenes of himself alongside historical figures, in outer space, or inhabiting the bodies of pop culture icons. Several images fixated on George Washington, including one in which Trump, on horseback, looms over the first president, and another placing Washington beside Trump in the Oval Office under the caption, President Washington visits President Trump.
Other posts showed Trumps face grafted onto the body of the late wrestling star Hulk Hogan, portrayed him commanding a futuristic robot army and piloting a spaceship, and even featured images asserting dominion over the moon. One meme reimagined New Mexico as New America, while another dubbed his Mar-a-Lago estate the southern White House.
The president also shared what appeared to be an AI-generated design board for a Space Force uniform, which many online compared to the authoritarian aesthetic of the Galactic Empire from Star Wars. The remarkable burst of activity quickly drew scrutiny from left-leaning commentators eager to cast the posts as erratic or unpresidential.
Independent journalist Aaron Rupar posted a lengthy screen recording scrolling through Trumps feed, while progressive influencer Harry Sisson compiled a timestamped breakdown of the spree before demanding: 25th Amendment NOW! Democratic officials, including California Governor Gavin Newsom and representatives from New Mexico, piled on as well, mocking his meme that renamed their state.
Others in Trumps orbit, such as his estranged niece Mary Trump, expressed shock at the volume and tone of the imagery. Yet for many of the presidents supporters, the posts were simply another example of his irreverent, combative style at a moment when he faces mounting political pressure ahead of the midterm elections, with polls reflecting voter frustration over the economy, inflation, and his administrations Iran policy.
