According to Fox News, Patrick Clancy issued a statement through his attorney after jurors in the case against his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, told the court they could not reach a unanimous verdict. The loss of Patricks children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure," his attorney, David Meier, wrote in a statement issued on Patrick's behalf. The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful for Patrick, for his family, and for all us," the statement concluded.
Patrick Clancy has previously urged the public to extend forgiveness to his ex-wife, who has admitted killing their three children 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan. Her defense team has argued she was legally insane at the time, claiming postpartum psychosis, a strategy that has drawn scrutiny from those concerned about expanding insanity defenses in ways that could weaken accountability.
During the trial, Patrick Clancy testified in detail about Jan. 24, 2023, the day his children were killed while he was out running errands. He told jurors he had gone to a CVS to pick up stool softener for one of the children and then to get takeout for dinner, speaking with Lindsay on the phone while he was away.
On Friday afternoon, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial in the closely watched case after the jury reported it was unable to reach a unanimous decision. Prosecutors must now decide whether to pursue a retrial, a choice that will test how far the state is willing to go in seeking justice for three young lives cut short.
The jury deliberated for a week at Plymouth Superior Court in Plymouth, Massachusetts, as supporters and onlookers gathered outside, many demanding a clear verdict rather than a deadlock.
