According to Gateway Pundit, federal agents intercepted Swalwell earlier this month as he deplaned, quietly surrounding the California Democrat, who was dressed in a hoodie, and seizing his iPhone and MacBook Pro laptop. Authorities did not place him under arrest at the scene, but the seizure underscores the seriousness of the investigation now engulfing a man who once styled himself as a moral scold against conservatives, including President Donald Trump and his supporters.
The Justice Department opened its investigation in April into multiple allegations of sexual assault lodged against Swalwell, who has since resigned from Congress and abandoned his bid for California governor. At least five women have now come forward, painting a deeply troubling picture of a powerful Democrat who, for years, enjoyed the protection and adulation of the left-wing political and media establishment.
One of those women, Lonna Drews, stepped forward publicly at a press conference in Beverly Hills in April, becoming the fifth accuser to identify herself. The 5th Swalwell accuser to come forward, Lonna Drews, is represented by attorney Lisa Bloom, a prominent figure on the left and daughter of famed activist attorney Gloria Allred.

Drews described in harrowing detail what she says happened in a West Hollywood hotel room in 2018, alleging that Swalwell drugged and raped her and choked her until she blacked out. I knew he was married at the time and that his wife was pregnant. He was my friend. On the third occasion, I believe he drugged my drink, she said, recounting how a trusted relationship turned into a nightmare. Lonna Drews said Swalwell drugged her drink and violently raped her, describing an assault that left her convinced she might not survive.
He raped me, and he choked me. And while he was choking me, I lost consciousness. And I thought I died. I did not consent to any sexual activity, she said through tears. I would never have engaged in a consensual sexual encounter with Eric Swalwell, she said, rejecting any suggestion that the encounter was voluntary.
Following Drews press conference, the Los Angeles District Attorneys Office opened a formal investigation into Swalwell, adding to the mounting legal scrutiny. Separately, Swalwell is also under investigation by the Manhattan District Attorneys Office after a former staffer told CNN that the California Democrat sexually assaulted her in 2019 and later raped her in 2024, years after she left his employment.
The staffers account, combined with Drews allegations and the claims of other women, raises serious questions about how long Democrat leadership and their media allies ignored warning signs while Swalwell was elevated as a partisan attack dog against President Trump and conservatives. With federal agents now seizing his devices and multiple prosecutors examining the accusations, the case is rapidly becoming a test of whether the justice system will hold a well-connected Democrat to the same standard it routinely applies to political figures on the right.
