Bill Maher used his HBO platform to deliver a blistering rebuke of the Democratic Partys growing tolerance for antisemitism, warning that the left is increasingly comfortable with open hostility toward Jews.
According to Gateway Pundit, Mahers critique comes as the Democratic Socialists of America and a new strain of Islamist-aligned progressives gain influence inside the party, with figures such as Abdul El-Sayed and online personality Hasan Piker celebrated by the activist left. Maher, who is not Jewish, nevertheless made clear he recognizes where this trajectory leads and suggested it will only deteriorate further if party leaders refuse to confront it.
As reported by FOX News, the exchange unfolded during a Real Time segment with CNN anchor Dana Bash, who praised Texas Democrat James Talarico as a Christian who wears his faith on his sleeve and believes his public religiosity could be politically advantageous. Maher immediately cut through the piety, remarking, Well, in the Democratic Party, as long as that faith isnt Jewish, youre good.
Bash responded, Well, you said it. Maher then drove the point home without hesitation: Yeah, I said it because its true!
That blunt assessment is backed by data, not just rhetoric, with Pew Research Center polling showing that 80% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents (80%) hold an unfavorable view of Israel, up sharply from 53% in 2022. For a party that constantly lectures the country on tolerance and inclusion, such numbers expose a deep hypocrisy that conservatives have been warning about for years.
The Democratic Party will not reverse this trend until it unequivocally declares that Jew haters are not welcome in their party, and enforces that standard in practice, not just in press releases. For now, there is little indication that its leadership is prepared to challenge the radical elements it has empowered, leaving Jewish voters and allies to wonder how far this hostility will be allowed to spread.
