President Donald Trump once again sent progressives into a tailspin online after sharing a new meme hinting at a potential 2028 presidential bid.
The image, posted on Truth Social, depicts the President in a Trump 2028 hat alongside the declaration, We are going to win. According to Mediaite, the post immediately triggered outrage from liberal activists and commentators, many of whom accused Trump of openly flirting with a third term in defiance of constitutional limits.
Trump has long enjoyed teasing his critics with suggestions of extending his political career, even as he publicly acknowledges the legal barrier to a third term. On Tuesday, he reminded reporters that the law is very strong in preventing him from running again, underscoring that he understands the constitutional framework his opponents claim he is threatening.
Everybody asks me that question, Trump said, noting the persistent speculation about 2028. And you know that the law is very strong on that. Id love to run, but the law is very strong. I get asked by everyone. Even tonight, theyre screaming at the event, 2028! No, everybody wants me to do it, but the law is very strong.
For many on the left, however, the meme served as fresh evidence that the President is allegedly plotting to overstay his welcome, despite his explicit acknowledgment of the law. Prominent progressives on X rushed to portray the post as a serious threat to the Constitution, even as his supporters saw it as classic Trumpian trolling that exposes how easily his critics can be provoked.
