Childrens entertainer Ms. Rachel, a YouTube and Netflix star with a massive preschool following, is now openly promoting slavery reparations to her millions of social media followers.
According to the Gateway Pundit, Ms. Rachel whose real name is Rachel Accurso and who previously drew scrutiny for donating thousands of dollars to the campaign of far-left Michigan politician Abdul El-Sayed has added reparations for slavery and Jim Crow laws to what is becoming a familiar list of progressive causes. As reported by Breitbart News, she used her Instagram platform, with more than five million followers, to endorse the idea that America must reckon with its past in a way that aligns closely with activist academic rhetoric rather than childrens education.
In her post, Ms. Rachel shared a passage from Ta-Nehisi Coates 2014 essay The Case for Reparations to frame her argument. The excerpt read: Two hundred fifty years of slavery. Ninety years of Jim Crow. Sixty years of separate but equal. Thirty-five years of racist housing policy. Until we reckon with our compounding moral debts, America will never be whole.
Coates, described as an American author, journalist, and activist, has long argued that American prosperity was ill-gotten and that the nation must address its past in ways that go beyond handing out money. Neither Coates nor Ms. Rachel, however, appears willing to confront the historical reality that both slaverys legal framework and Jim Crow segregation were championed and enforced for generations by the Democrat Party.
Critics on X, formerly Twitter, have been quick to question why a childrens content creator is using her platform to push divisive political narratives instead of focusing on educational material. For parents who value traditional American principles and prefer to shield their children from ideological activism, the controversy is a reminder that they have many alternatives when choosing entertainment for their kids.
